Northern Gili Trawangan
Gili Eco Villas
When we walked past Gili Eco Villas during our island exploration, I was instantly drawn to its beachfront location.
The place just has this amazing laid-back vibe that made me want to drop everything and check in right there! It’s got all the essentials – a gorgeous outdoor pool, relaxing massage services, and even glass-bottom boat tours.
Like everywhere else on Gili T, you won’t find any cars or motorbikes here (it’s part of what makes the island so special!).
Getting here is pretty straightforward – just hop on one of the boats from Bali or Lombok, and you’ll be here in about a 30-minute walk from the terminal.
I love how they’ve decorated the villas with recycled teak wood – it gives them such a cool, eco-friendly feel. Each villa comes with a comfy rattan sofa in the living area and (my favourite part) an outdoor shower!
You’ve got plenty to keep you busy here – take a traditional cidomo (horse cart) ride around the island, lounge by the pool, or get into some water sports like snorkelling, diving, and kayaking. Oh, and there’s free Wi-Fi if you need to stay connected. They serve up breakfast daily too, which is always a plus.
Couples seem to love this place as much as I wanted to stay here – they gave it an impressive 9.4 rating for two-person trips.
One happy guest shared their experience:
“Set away from the party areas and back from the road you find peace and privacy. The staff are all lovely and the location is perfect – one of the best beach fronts, close to snorkelling/sunset spots and near yoga. Rent a bike and get around easily.”
Seriously, this looks like a great place to stay in Gili Trawangan!

There’s never a dull moment here – you can lounge on the beach, go snorkelling, try scuba diving, or explore the island by bike.
They’ve even got a cosy game corner and mini library for those relaxing moments. Need to sort out your laundry or arrange a boat transfer? No problem – they’ve got you covered.
The food here is absolutely incredible – with a mix of Indonesian, Italian, French, and mouthwatering barbecued seafood dishes. And with room service available, you can enjoy these delicious meals wherever you like!
One guest summed it up perfectly: “Way above all expectations. The location, away from the hustle yet in a very perfect sunset spot. The food, not even worth keeping on trying other spots. The staff especially Dewa what a sweet heart. Everyone else was simply amazing too. I will return, and this time for a whole month!“

The spacious, air-conditioned rooms come fully equipped with modern amenities including a desk, electric kettle, minibar, safe, flat-screen TV, and a private balcony.
Some rooms offer beautiful pool views, and all feature a private bathroom and patio. The hotel also serves an excellent à la carte and halal breakfast every morning.

Pearl of Trawangan
Say the Pearl of Trawangan is quite frankly a pearl to be considered!
Looking out over the beach with not one but two gorgeous pools (including a swim-up bar!), Pearl of Trawangan is a lovely spot to call home during your island stay.
The second pool overlooks a peaceful garden and comes with a relaxing hot tub. And yes, you’ll find free WiFi everywhere.
The rooms here blend rustic tropical vibes with modern comforts.
You’ll get air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with DVD player, and handy basics like a kettle and fridge. The semi-open bathrooms add a nice touch of island living, complete with everything you need.
Some rooms look out over the garden, while others (if you’re lucky!) get pool and beach views.

Getting here is easy too – just hop on one of their speedboats from Lombok, and you’ll be there in 15 minutes.
With an impressive 8.9 score from almost 3,500 reviews (yes, you read that right!), guests love this place.

Kokomo Resort
Looking for luxury with a personal touch? Ko-Ko-Mo Resort is a hidden gem that offers stunning 1, 2 and 3-bedroom villas, each featuring their own private pool or garden terrace.
Perfectly positioned at the quieter end of Gili T’s bustling strip, this beachfront resort strikes an ideal balance – you’re just a 5-minute walk from the island’s vibrant restaurants and bars, yet far enough away to enjoy peaceful moments.

Eastern Gili Trawangan
Abdi Hotel
Just steps away from Gili Trawangan Harbour (literally 328 feet!), Abdi Hotel is a fantastic find with its stunning outdoor pool and relaxing spa centre.
The free WiFi is super reliable – a rare treat on the island!

Plus, there are plenty of shops right at the property!
I walked past this place many times and said I would love to stay here. Maybe next time.
Sama Sama Bungalows
I stayed at Sama Sama Bungalows with my girlfriend Guada for almost three weeks, so I got to know this place pretty well.
The air-conditioned rooms are basic but comfortable, with beachfront access and free WiFi. It wasn’t the best but did the job.
There’s 24-hour security and front desk service, though sometimes the staff would mysteriously disappear when we needed them!
But it’s not always manned.
The breakfast was decent but nothing spectacular – limited choices but enough to start your day. What really makes this place shine is the atmosphere.
The live reggae music by the pool creates an amazing vibe, making it a perfect spot to start your night out. It’s an essential stop on any Gili T pub crawl!
The location is super convenient, close to South East Beach, North East Beach, and Gili Trawangan Harbour.
They also offer bicycle rentals if you want to explore the island, which we definitely recommend.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend staying here, especially given the great value compared to other hotels.

The resort caters perfectly to diving enthusiasts with its on-site dive centre, while also offering bicycle rentals and massage services for those seeking other activities.
As one recent guest raved: “Great location, good staff, very clean, breakfast was nice, perfect for diving!”
Their cosy restaurant serves up a mix of Western and Asian dishes throughout the day, complemented by fresh juices, quality coffee, and cold drinks – perfect for those post-dive refreshments!
Looks good to me!
Tropica Gili Total Body Fit
Tropica Gili Total Body Fit is a cool beachfront spot that’s got both comfy rooms and great fitness facilities.
It’s pretty new and doesn’t have tons of reviews yet, but people love its modern gym and awesome pool area.
The rooms are really nice – you get air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, private bathrooms with walk-in showers, and super comfy beds. Some rooms are even soundproofed if you want a really peaceful sleep.
The best part? There’s a proper fitness centre and gym that’s free to use – pretty rare to find on the island! They run fitness classes regularly, and there’s even a spot to work if you need to check your emails.
You’ll also find a lovely garden, a bar, and a restaurant that’s great for families, serving up both American and Asian dishes with plenty of veggie options.
It’s right near South East Beach and the harbour, making it super easy to explore the island. Plus, you can rent bikes right at the hotel.
Even though it’s one of the newer places to stay on Gili T, I’d say give it a shot – especially if you don’t want to skip your workouts while you’re on holiday!
Gili Villas
You’ll love these spacious villas, each with its own private pool (though heads up – the WiFi can be a bit crappy).
It’s perfectly located just a short stroll from all the beach bars and restaurants on Gili T, with a beautiful walled garden giving you that extra privacy.
Each villa comes with 1 or 2 bedrooms, a lovely terrace for lounging, and your own living and dining areas complete with a kitchenette. You’ll find all the comforts of home with cable TV and a DVD player, plus they bring breakfast right to your villa!

They can arrange everything from massages to diving trips and even have babysitting if you need it.
Plus, there’s a handy currency exchange on-site.
Western Gili Trawangan
Serene Beach Villa
Now we’re getting to the western side of Gili T – and trust me, this is where you’ll find some of the best spots on the island.
Serene Beach Villa is a lovely hideaway with a pool, its own beach area, and beautiful gardens. It’s just a quick 10-minute walk from Sunset Point, so you can catch those amazing Gili T sunsets everyone talks about.
While it might not have all the fancy bells and whistles of mainland hotels, the super-friendly staff more than makeup for it.
One happy guest put it perfectly: “The service was outstanding. These guys made us not wanna leave. One of the best hotel experiences. Thank Serene Beach V.”
The rooms are comfy and well-equipped with air-con, a minibar, a TV, and a nice private terrace looking out over the gardens.

Hotel Lumi Gili Trawangan
I was super excited when I first spotted Hotel Lumi – and with good reason!
This place has racked up an impressive 8.9 rating from almost 1,400 reviews.
It’s perfectly placed just a short walk from Sunset Point, with everything you could want – a restaurant, free bikes to explore the island, and a gorgeous swimming pool.
They’ve thought of everything here, from 24-hour front desk service to room service, and the WiFi is reliable throughout the property. There’s even a nightclub and babysitting service if you need it!
One happy guest summed it up perfectly: “I was the second time at Lumi and I just love it! When you drive around and look at the hotels, Lumi is outstanding! There are many nice hotels but the vibe at Lumi is just wow! Love the pool, the food, the free bicycle rent, the beach area… the cleaning personal does also a great job! Everyone is friendly.”
They serve up both continental and buffet breakfast options, and there’s a lovely terrace to relax on.
You’ll find a cool bar on-site, plus a business area if you need to catch up on work. The Art Market is about 2.5 miles away, but with those free bikes, it’s an easy ride!
Should you just book this place right now? I think so!
Cocana Resort Gili Trawangan
Okay, I may have saved the best for last! Cocana Resort Gili Trawangan looks like the only slice of paradise you’ll need to visit on the island.
With an impressive 8.9 rating from nearly 200 reviews, this newer resort is already proving itself to be something special.

The rooms here are pure comfort – think air conditioning, cosy seating areas, satellite TV, and safety deposit boxes. Each comes with a private bathroom stocked with free toiletries, plus thoughtful touches like electric teapots.
Some rooms even go the extra mile with their own kitchen, complete with a fridge and minibar. And if you need to catch up on some work (though why would you want to?), there’s a desk in every room.
To complete your paradise experience, there’s a relaxing spa centre on-site, and you can easily rent bikes to explore the island – cycling is super popular in this area!
As one delighted guest put it: “What a great place to stay, it’s definitely the best resort in the whole gili t island. Most definitely recommend this place”
Final Thoughts/Conclusion
Gili Trawangan has some epic hotels to stay in. There are some amazing mid-range places to stay and there are even some cheaper options to consider if you on a budget.
Each part of the island has good options.
I am very happy we stayed on the east side of the island and close to the pier.
We were a short walk from the time we hopped off the boat. Our hotel had a great breakfast and an extremely scenic way to start the morning overlooking Gili Meno and Lombok.
It was magical!
The north is more peaceful similar to the south.
The west side of the island is perfect if you want to watch spectacular sunsets every evening from your hotel room or the beach. The beaches are sublime!
Still, no matter what part of the island you stay in, you can easily cycle all around and experience it during the day.

FAQs
Which Part Of Gili Trawangan Is Best?
Gili Trawangan is small, so you can easily travel all over the island multiple times in the same day. However, many people feel the best part is the western side of the island. It’s the best for sunsets and horse riding. There are some amazing luxury hotels away from the party side on the east. Depending on what you want, this answer will differ.
How Many Days Do You Need In Gili Trawangan?
You could spend between 3-5 days in Gili Trawangan to see it all. This includes enjoying fun snorkelling tours, scuba diving experiences, and partying the night away. You can ride horses on the beach, attend a yoga session on a helipad, or even join a reggae sing-along on the beach with strangers. All of these activities can be experienced within a few days.
Is Gili More Expensive Than Bali?
In my experience, the Gili Islands are slightly cheaper than Bali. While Bali is world-famous, the Gilis are very popular but haven’t quite reached Bali’s level of tourism. This is reflected in the prices, though the difference isn’t substantial. People flock to the Gili Islands from Bali. Due to this size, it has remained a little cheaper.
