Pantai Melasti, Bali’s Best Beach?
My Pantai Melasti Travel Guide
Pantai Melasti is right at the southernmost tip of Bali, and it’s honestly one of the best beaches I found during my two months exploring Bali and the Gili Islands.
What makes it stand out is the amazing water, the golden sand, and there’s even an actual shipwreck on the beach that adds something unique to the place.
If you’re trying to figure out if Pantai Melasti is worth squeezing into your Bali itinerary, where exactly it is, how much it costs, and what you’ll find when you get there, I’ll break it all down for you.
When I was there watching the sunset along those rocky cliffs, I realised this beach has something special that a lot of the more touristy spots in Bali don’t have: it feels authentic while still having all the amenities you need.
This place is perfect if you’re travelling as a couple, looking for a romantic spot or if you’re solo and want somewhere to chill but still with things to do.
Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of what I think is one of Bali’s perfect beaches.

Melasti Beach Location
How To Get To Pantai Melasti
Coming from Jimbaran, about 10 kilometres south, we took a Grab car to get to Melasti Beach.
This is safer than going on a bike but takes a little longer. Our car had to enter the zig-zag road above Melasti Beach to drop us off.
Pantai Melasti is Bali’s most southerly point, so it’s really unique.
Thankfully, it’s an easy place to get to.
Melasti Beach Entrance Fee
When we arrived at Melasti Beach, it was 10,000 IDR (€0.52/$0.620/£10.46) per person to visit.
The only other thing we needed to pay for was letting the car wander down the road to drop us at the beach. Kids can enter for 5,000 IDR.
We paid 25,000 IDR (€1.32/£1.14 /$1.54) for this.
Melasti Beach Facilities
Melasti Beach is a busy and modern space with plenty of beach clubs, places to eat, toilets and even a shipwreck!
I was delighted to see this.
Meals can be affordable if you don’t have the budget for the expensive beach clubs.
Best Beach Clubs in Melasti
Once you arrive at Pantai Melasti, you will see and hear the many beach clubs along the sand.
The most popular ones that people flock to include Tropical Temptation – Adult Only Beach Club, Palmilla Bali Beach Club, White Rock Beach Club, Mïnoo Beach Club and Sugra Beach Club.
If you want to party, dance to some epic music in one of Bali’s most beautiful locations, you have come to the right beach!
However, you can lounge around and appreciate the lazy vibe too if that’s more your thing.
Switch between the amazing pools and pristine seawater for a wonderful experience.
What To Expect At Pantai Melasti
I promise you will love this beach if you enjoy amazing sand, water and fun places to eat.
Before getting to the beach, there is a windy road where the landscape has been carved open to make way for new developments and the road.
Passing through a temple-like entrance (Kori Agung Pantai Melasti), it’s an impressive setting from the get-go.
The water is extremely clean. In many parts of Asia, you can find huge deposits of plastic and other rubbish.
I cannot remember seeing any at Melasti Beach, thankfully.
That being said, when I visited, you had to go out far into the water for your legs not to be able to touch the ground.
Before that, there are huge rock pools and many sharp areas in the ground, so watch out for that. It’s here that the watershoes will help.

Apart from that is a sublime beach for relaxation.
When To Visit Pantai Melasti?
The best time to visit the beach is July and August.
However, if you visit in May or June or September, you can still have good weather and fewer people on the beach.
Additionally, the best time to visit the beach during the day is morning or sunset.
In the morning, it takes people time to get ready and go somewhere. So you can have a little more peace, but it won’t last too long.
While many people had left before the sunset, we waited around and were treated to something special in the sky.
The colours and clouds made it extraordinary, and it was a great end to our day on Pantai Melasti.
Best Things to Do in Melasti Beach
Swim
You can swim at Melasti Beach even though there are rocks present.
Some natural pools formed, and there were many people swimming around when I visited. The water is beautiful and calm, though depending on how far you go out, the waves can be massive.
I spent about an hour standing around photographing the waves crashing and the sunset along the coast.
Magical memories on Bali’s most southerly tip.
Relax On The Beach
I loved relaxing on the beach at Pantai Melasti.
We could find shaded areas down along the beach. This was close to Sugra Beach Club.
But be aware, monkeys have snuck up on many people and robbed their bags of food and other items.
You need to be listening and on guard should you stay close to the trees.
Eat
There are many options for places to eat at Pamtai Melasti.
There are loads of affordable places to eat on the strip where Warung Friska is located.
I recommend eating at Warung Bu Nopa. There are many cheaper dishes like Nasi Goreng and fresh coconuts to refuel your body after the sun and water have drained it.
If you want to splash out, then consider The Beach Shack, Palmilla Bali Beach Club or White Rock Beach Club.
Explore The Shipwreck
I was so surprised to see a shipwreck at Pantai Melasti. In a great way!
While I didn’t enter the ship, it looked enormous against the backdrop of the coast. We walked around it and additionally ventured about 100 meters south of the ship to touch Bali’s most southerly tip.
This was a fun experience, and the views back along the coastline from here were stunning.
The waves were massive here, and watching them disappear into the ether was meditative.
Experience A Kecak Dance at Melasti Beach
You can see the amazing open-air theatre from Pantai Melasti, and if you go when the Kecak Dance is happening, you can visit.
Imagine having the sea as the backdrop to the dance. I couldn’t think of a better location to witness a Kecak dance than when the sun is setting.
Apart from a drone, you can get the best views of Pantai Melasti from here.
You can expect to pay 150,000 IDR per person.

Final Thoughts/Conclusion
Pantai Melasti is simply beautiful.
The golden sands, crystal-clear water, and other fun activities around the beach truly make it worth visiting.
For me, lazing around on the sand and watching the sunset was spectacular. I loved the shipwreck too, and the fact that you can eat on any budget, even if it means going to one of the warungs rather than a beach club.
Make sure you read my Southeast Asia packing list before you make the trip.

FAQs
Where Is Melasti Beach In Bali?
Melasti Beach is interestingly found at the most southerly point of Bali. It is located close to Uluwatu. Here you can relax on the golden soft sand, swim in the ocean and crash into the gigantic waves. You can relax at the beach clubs or explore the shipwreck found there, too. Melasti Beach is a wonderful place to explore in Bali.
What Are The Nicest Beaches In Bali?
Amed Beach, Pantai Melasti, Sanur Beach and Jimbaran Beach were all spectacular when I visited. Sure, Nusa Penida, on the neighbouring island, has more breathtaking beaches. But in Bali, the list I mentioned likely represents the best beaches on the island.
Is Melasti In Uluwatu?
No, Pantai Melasti is not in Uluwatu, but it’s quite close. About a 40-minute drive west from Melasti Beach, you’ll find Uluwatu – another epic place to explore in Bali. We moved easily between both locations using Grab when we visited. If you don’t drive a motorbike or car, then I recommend using Grab to get around.
