Finding The Best Rooftop Bar In Hanoi: 5 AMAZING Options

Exploring Hanoi’s Rooftop Bar Scene

The best rooftop bars in Hanoi offer some of the most stunning sunset views you’ll find in Southeast Asia.

And trust me, you want to experience at least one.

Hanoi is famous for its museums, temples, and French Quarter, but the bars are great too. Especially the ones perched high above the Old Quarter’s chaos, where you can sip a cocktail and watch the city light up as the sun dips behind West Lake.

I spent four weeks in Hanoi last year, and honestly? The views from the sky bars were a highlight of my entire trip.

Now, I know what you’re wondering: Are drinks going to destroy my budget? And if I only have time for one rooftop bar, which one should I choose?

Fair questions. Prices vary wildly (some places charge $15 for a beer, others keep it reasonable at $5), and not all rooftop bars are created equal. Some have incredible 360-degree views. Others aren’t as good.

One evening at a rooftop spot near Hoan Kiem Lake, I ended up chatting with an American man and his Scottish wife, who shared their entire life story with me over the funkiest cocktail concoction I’ve ever had.

Whether you’re travelling solo and want a peaceful spot to journal while watching the sunset, or you’re with your partner looking for a romantic viewpoint that doesn’t feel too touristy, I’m breaking down exactly which rooftop bars deliver on atmosphere, views, and value.

Just the spots that are actually worth your time. Before that, read my post about whether Hanoi is worth visiting or not.

I also have a 2-week Vietnam itinerary to help plan a trip and a comparison guide between Thailand and Vietnam in case you werent sure.

Solar Sky Bar

Solar Sky Bar is an epic rooftop bar located on the edge of Hanoi’s Old Quarter.

I discovered this place because it was a one-minute walk from my hotel, Old Town Palace Guesthouse.

I highly recommend this place as the location is fantastic.

Entering through the ground floor, you pass through the fancy GM Premium Hotel lobby with a fine black and white interior and a brand new grand piano.

I took the lift to the top floor, where I was greeted by friendly staff and superb views overlooking Hanoi.

There are tables inside for the restaurant, but once you step outside onto the roof, that’s where the real magic happens.

The views of the Hanoi skyline are stunning. The sunset over the other skyscrapers is breathtaking.

A pineapple ginseng tea costs 189,000 VND (plus 10% tax and 5% service charge added later).

What I loved most about my visit was the outdoor rooftop area-marble-like tables and lanterns hanging from the trees, glowing red as night fell.

It’s a truly beautiful place to spend the evening and one of Hanoi’s best rooftop bars in my view.

The Luxe Bar

Probably my favourite sky bar in Hanoi, thanks to its city skyline view, is the Luxe Bar.

Additionally, Hao, my barman on the two nights I visited, made me an incredible cocktail with blue curaçao and cream on top.

It was a tasty and interesting combination.

When I visited, there was a live band performing with hundreds of people in the street right below, so not only were the views amazing, but I had a live music performance to top it all off.

You need to enter the Luxe Bar through Le Premier Hotel on the ground level and take the lift up.

Once you exit outside and walk up the spiral staircase, you’re at the bar.

It’s really close to Hanoi Weekend Night Market.

I sat at the round bar with comfy, cushioned seats and chatted with Hao before moving over to the tables, where I met a friend.

Hao actually gave us six shots (non-alcoholic Vietnamese product) on the house. A very kind act.

At the end of the night, I happily left him a top review on TripAdvisor for his efforts.

What I found to be the best view was to sit on the east side of the rooftop overlooking the lake.

You can see other rooftop bars along the Hanoi skyline from here, but The Luxe rules the roost.

If you want more privacy, you can sit at the round tables in the centre of the rooftop, which are covered.

I had an amazing chat about life with an American and Scottish couple. The views from here made everyone relax and feel happy, and we had a great evening with strangers.

The Luxe Bar felt luxurious and, for me, is the best rooftop bar in Hanoi’s Old Quarter that I visited.

Opening Hours: 02.00 PM – Midnight

Mina Sky Bar

A two-minute walk from Beer Street is another great rooftop bar on Hanoi’s skyline: Mina Sky Bar.

I was walking through the Old Quarter looking for a nice place with a view to have a drink, and I found this place.

It’s located right at the end of Beer Street on the north side.

While I found it to be a little less fancy, it was a great place to come for a drink and my first sky bar in Hanoi.

After taking the lift up to the 5th floor in Mina Hotel and Spa, I found myself alone with the barman, where we chatted about his life in Hanoi.

I recommend trying the Mojito, which was tasty and stronger than expected.

The views from Mina Sky Bar are good, but to be honest, they’re better at Cloud Sky Bar and The Luxe Bar.

However, that wouldn’t stop me from recommending that you go.

What I loved about it was that you could see straight down the narrow street to Beer Street.

I could also see other sky bars along the skyline lit up as the sun went down.

The transition from day into night was beautiful to watch with a mojito close at hand.

Sonny, my barman, was excellent. He made my drink, and thanks to happy hour, I got two for the price of one, 200,000 Vietnamese dong for both.

He also told me that if a hotel in Hanoi has a sky bar, it’s automatically a four-star hotel.

My second was a Pina Colada, which was so good!

After chatting with a Vietnamese couple who joined us at the bar, I left with a big smile on my face and a little bit tipsy. You need to visit Mina Sky Bar for one of Hanoi’s best bars!

PS – don’t miss the best things to do in Hanoi at night, and normally it includes these cool skybars.

Opening Hours: 05.00 PM-11.00 PM

Location: 40, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội 100000, Vietnam

Cloud Sky Bar Hanoi

Another sky bar that straddles Hanoi’s skyline is Cloud Sky Bar.

What I loved about this place was the view right down onto Hang Da Market, where six streets all come together in an organised chaos only the Vietnamese know how to manage.

Located on the roof of JM Marvel Hotel and Spa, I fell in love with this place after two minutes.

The black and white design on the rooftop made for a classy and elegant feel.

What I loved from this rooftop bar was the amazing, tall and narrow guesthouses that dotted the skyline of Hanoi.

How do people stay in those? I wondered, they look amazing!m

The menu has loads of options.

You can get many different wines, beers, or even teas, but the two recommended drinks are the Hanoi and the Ha Long Bay.

It’s important to note that this was the busiest sky bar I visited in Hanoi.

A family and more people sat around the large table in the middle of the rooftop, and it felt a little more cramped here than The Luxe Bar.

However, I loved this place. They had nice club music playing softly in the background, so you could still hear the horns of the traffic below.

There were also plants with lights wrapped around them that would illuminate the rooftop bar once it got dark. I found that the views were interesting from anywhere I sat at Cloud Sky Bar.

Location: JM Marvel Hotel, 16 P. Hàng Da, Str, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội 100000, Vietnam

Six Degree Rooftop

Further from the Old Quarter, you can find a great rooftop bar in Hanoi close to West Lake.

Six Degree Rooftop Bar is a fancy and elegant place for an evening drink (and meal).

When I visited, I met someone there for dinner and we had a really nice time. The staff were very attentive and the food was amazing. I’d suggest dressing up well to fit in with the vibe here, whereas the other bars are more relaxed.

But what really stood out for me was the outdoor rooftop with stunning views across Hanoi.

The entire cityscape was lit up, and you could make out each part of the city.

When I arrived, you could park your motorbike in the parking lot below, where a security guard was on call all the time. After taking the lift up to the roof, we sat and had food before making our way out to the rooftop to soak up the views.

While the bar is inside, you can sit outside and have your waiter bring drinks.

As we exited the bar, live music was being played, so I felt classy with the violin in the background.

For me, this was one of the most enjoyable bars I experienced during my four-week stay in Hanoi.

Opening Hours: 07.00 AM – 11.00 PM

Location: 189 Đ. Nghi Tàm, Yên Phụ, Tây Hồ, Hà Nội 100000, Vietnam

Budget: $$$$

Final Thoughts/Conclusion

Hanoi has some amazing sky bars.

My personal favourite was The Luxe Sky Bar because of the views down onto Hoan Kiem Lake, with Cloud Sky Bar coming a close second for its luxuriousness at a good price.

Additionally, there was no strict dress code for these bars – at least none that I could see listed.

If having an evening drink with stunning city views of Hanoi’s skyline is important to you, then I recommend booking into one of Hanoi’s amazing hotels, which has one of the rooftop bars listed in this post.

Thankfully, most of them are in great locations. Alternatively, you can check out my post on where to stay in Hanoi, which lists the best neighbourhoods and hotels to consider.
